clodia.org: home of the small mammal

Welcome to my fascinating website. I'll be getting some interesting stuff up here any day now, so check back soon. In the meantime, visit my journal, which is chock full of delicious, nutritious content!

Update: Well, clearly that "any day now" thing hasn't happened. I'm still working on it... Or rather, I'm not working on it. See, if I'd actually been working on it, I'd have something substantial up here by now.

What's a clodia?

Clodia Metulla was a Roman woman, immortalized as Lesbia in the poetry of Catullus. Have a look at the poems here. I'll put some of my very own clunky translations up here at some point. There are far better ones out there, but there's a certain lovely satisfaction that comes with having translated an entire poem on your own. Even if it is an awfully short one.

Speaking of poetry, my very favoritest Greek poem is one of the fragments from Archilichus (I'll look up the number sometime when it's not the middle of the night. Long story, but my only Archilochus is in Greek with facing Italian translations. I can't deal with that right now.):

The fox knows many things. The hedgehog knows one thing, but it's a good thing.
